Seamless Wi-Fi Coverage for a Century-Old Home Expansion
A homeowner in Reading, MA, faced significant Wi-Fi dead zones after adding an addition to their 1916 residence. By extending physical infrastructure and utilizing a design-first approach, we delivered a reliable solution that integrated the new space into the home’s network.
The Challenge
The homeowner had “an addition to the home and didn’t consider how to get Wi-Fi coverage there.” This resulted in “lack of 5 GHz coverage and terrible performance” in the new area. The structure of the 1916 home, combined with the new footprint, meant that standard retail solutions were insufficient to penetrate the new layout.
Our Approach
We follow the principle: “Design for the home, not the box.” Instead of adding more wireless extenders that degrade performance, we ran a dedicated Ethernet line to the basement area under the addition. We then installed an eero PoE 7 to provide high-capacity coverage for the first floor. This ensured the new space had a dedicated, hardwired access point to handle modern bandwidth demands.
The Results
| Location | Before (Mbps) | After (Mbps) | Improvement |
| Addition (1st Floor) | 30 Mbps | 263 Mbps | +776% |
| Basement (Workshop) | 3 Mbps | 300 Mbps | +9,900% |
| Master Bedroom | 269 Mbps | 272 Mbps | Stable |
| Kitchen | 30 Mbps | 263 Mbps | +776% |

Before and After Wi-Fi performance survey showing improvement across all floors.
Outcome
The client noted that Juwann and Jacob “helped solve our Wi-Fi range issue” and were “easy to work with as they explained their process and outcomes.” The “work completed was very neat,” resulting in a “coverage solution” that finally accounted for the home’s increased square footage.
Why MVWFP
We fix the problems that DIY systems and ISPs cannot. By assessing the home as a system, we eliminate the guesswork. Our goal is to provide a “set it and forget it” experience where the technology fades into the background and the Wi-Fi simply works.
